I was skeptical at first. I prefer the smooth, hard surface of a mouse, which is a very thin piece of malleable material. I wasn't sure how much better this would be compared to my regular desktop. However, I was surprised at how smooth the movement was, I ran a few tests comparing my desk surface and this mouse pad and mouse pad worked much better to my surprise. Note: Peel off the sticker from the bottom to make sure the bottom is semi sticky. This keeps the pad from slipping but doesn't leave a sticky residue. This rug is very thin so you need to be sure about the reason you bought this rug. Buy if: You want a very thin/minimalist rug that blends in nicely with the rest of your desk and don't mind a cushion. It's also okay if you don't like the feel of a cloth mousepad. Do not buy if: You need a lot of pillows
