I like that it is so small and rechargeable, and the lights flash very brightly and change color to the beat of the music. I bought it to throw a small dance party with my kids. We turned off the light and drew the curtains. I didn't realize at first that the lantern had a protective white cover and wondered if the light was working properly. Eventually I found that the lid just pops out. I put a flash directly on the speaker and it worked fine for our mini dance party. Our living room was probably 10 x 10 and I'm not sure it would fit in a larger room, but for our use it did.
