I've done two obstacle races so I'm by no means an expert. Take it for granted. Anyway, what I can tell you is that I wore the same shoes, supportive underwear and shorts in those two races. I wore a different jersey for each race and in the first race I didn't wear the MudGear Obstacle Compression Socks while in the second race I wore the MudGear Obstacle Compression Socks. Can you guess what I'm going to say next? ? I guess I can't stand surprises. Anyway, my second race was longer and with more obstacles and I broke my time compared to the first race. (Neither time was "impressive", but still...) But seriously, my body was shattered after the first race, blisters and mysterious bruises everywhere. In the second race, in socks, I didn't have a single blister, and the mysterious bruises under the knee were significantly reduced, especially due to the obstacle that appeared in both races, where you had to wade horizontally and slightly. down through the net without touching the ground - surprisingly rough bruises on the back of the calf after the first race, none after the second. Unofficial evidence, of course, but I'm delighted! I was also pleasantly surprised at how well the socks shed water. I didn't wear socks in the first race because I'd rather risk a few blisters than deal with wet socks. Was burned the first time and found they solve both problems. Again, I am a very happy backpacker. . . or . . . OCR runner. . . or something else. Also, I just love the compression. My wife and kids made me carry these puppies around the house (and made fun of them!), but they're just so comfortable. I love how they hug/support my arches and the calf compression is easy. . . Big? I don't know if it's weird but I like it. They turn out bigger than expected. Maybe a little big, but not so big that it becomes uncomfortable, sticky, or blistering. Just great socks from a seemingly great company that has invested heavily in OCR and I really appreciate that.
