Instructions and recommendations

Excellent cooler. Customize my 2000 Miata manual transmission with a little extra work. I used miata.net instructions from "garage section". From the old cooler you need to save the four rubber bumpers located in the top and bottom corners and put them on the new cooler. I did not take off the skirt under the engine, it is not necessary. I removed the fans along with the included heatsink. Note that the plastic tab on the AC cable connector must be pushed UP to disconnect the connector and the tab on the main fan cable connector must be pushed down. Find out. I installed a new radiator along with the main fan on the driver's side and installed the radiator fan on the passenger's side after the radiator was installed. At the bottom are two flared *brass* pipes. The picture above shows them aluminum, but they're brass, which is fine, if not an improvement. This is the forward and reverse for an automatic transmission. I have a manual transmission and they have been increased (easier to pack?) and interfere with the fans. The fittings were larger than the 18mm wrench and smaller than the 22mm wrench. I ended up using a wrench with no problem, but BE CAREFUL as the aluminum cooling fins on the heatsink tend to warp. A strong touch of a finger can bend them, so twisting the hardware was a bit of a concern. In the end there were no problems. There is a rubber cap for each hose, but since I was twisting the fittings towards each other anyway, I decided to remove the caps and use a length of 3/8" vacuum hose to connect the supply hose fitting to the return hose fitting, ie better than rubber caps. This is a 30 minute to hour job. I had delivery problems. According to UPS, the first shipment ended up at a loading dock 800 miles away, but this supplier did the best job I've ever dealt with, giving me options and then promptly sending out a replacement. They didn't dictate the process but they said "please let us know" how you would like to handle this and when I did, BAM! This was done in a few hours and sent personally by the person who responded to my request. They were a lot cheaper than my local parts dealers, almost as quick and very polite. I was really impressed with them.
