Size: XXL When I look for a new pair of motorcycle gloves I have three main characteristics/requirements in mind: protection, comfort and style. Indie Ridge "Denim & Leather” line of gloves has all 3! Protection: Having probably ridden these gloves about 1,000 miles I have real confidence in the different levels of protection they offer. The full leather palm with soft impact areas leaves me feeling like if I fell on the low or high side I would walk away with fingerprints intact and minimal bruising. That being said, the protection isn't limited to the stock and I still retain most of my dexterity when it comes to throttle, clutch and front brake controls. Everything in life is a delicate balance and that is never more true than when it comes to protection and mobility on a motorcycle. On top of that, you have a thick denim layer combined with reinforced/armored joints that feel a little softer than your "standard" carbon fiber. I had the joint in my other gloves. Once again, Indie Ridge has found a balance. Although the ankle area is "soft” (hardened rubber) it still seems more than adequate in terms of protection. I feel like if I were to hit a wall I would feel the pressure of the impact but get out unscathed and as they aren't made out of hard plastic or carbon material I retain all my ankle motion when wearing them. It also means they don't have to add extra layers of fabric to create a "movable joint," which then results in less weight, fewer stitches, and fewer places where stitches can fail. Comfort: I would say these gloves are perfect. for 2 - 2.5 seasons depending on where you live, spring and autumn. Here in the south, spring weather can hit the high 22°C or the low 30°C, and autumn regularly hits 20°C. The breathable denim upper combines with perforated leather to create a well-ventilated glove. This is very important when you are on days when temperatures reach 70F and 80F. They also offer low water resistance. A few weeks ago I was driving through Florida where I was caught out by a little intermittent rain. I think people outside the south might call that rain, but down here it's mostly called drizzle or rain. In each case, the gloves stayed relatively dry and my hands were completely dry by the end. They won't protect you from water if you catch a heavy downpour, but if you do get caught in one of them you'd probably better plan how to ride in the rain, or sometimes something happens that you have to do. I recently used them here in the "Upper/Mid South" during our fall season and I can tell you that despite their perforation they keep my hands warm enough when riding in temperatures up to 50F / 55F. 50km/h. I would even be willing to wear them for short trips "to work" in temperatures up to 40 degrees Celsius, but that sucks. All this without any kind of glove lining. If you were to use a glove liner, which I have yet to do, you could probably push it further, but that's up to you. Remember that they will stretch with use. I have a pair of XXL because it's my typical size and they've stretched a bit to the point that I'm planning on getting a pair of XL, but if nothing else that should tell you I like them that much that I am willing to have them 2 pairs of different sizes. It's not really a problem because in warm weather I need a glove that fits well, and in cold weather the glove needs to be a bit larger if I want to use a liner. did a really great job incorporating denim into the design of these gloves without coming out with a product that looks like something straight out of the 90's. Black leather paired with dark denim forms a pleasant contrast, although both materials are dark-colored. That's probably the main reason I started looking at these gloves. Style is probably the #1 factor that determines people's initial interest in the riding equipment they want to buy. The stylish glove is the perfect addition to your cruiser/cafe racer outfit. I personally ride a cruiser (2009 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Custom) in a leather jacket and jeans. They create matching clothing that isn't primarily made of leather or denim, which seems to be the standard for motorcycle clothing. You can usually find full leather or something made out of textile, it's hard to find an outfit with accent material that works well and is still aesthetically pleasing. I recommend these gloves to all my riding friends. I think given the quality and the features they offer, it will be difficult to beat the price of these devices. Most gloves I've seen cost a little more.
