Review on Premium [3-PACK] Mr.Shield Anti-Glare [Matte] Screen Protector for Microsoft Surface Pro 4 - Lifetime Replacement Included by Gene Rosado

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Do you like your surface pen? You probably shouldn't be using this.

This screen protector is mediocre in many ways. I was happy to get three for such a low price, but one of them didn't stop on the corner and was unusable. The other one was really static and after removing the protective film there was so much dust on it that I couldn't use it. The latter eventually worked and is still on my screen to this day. I'm a college student and artist who often uses my Surface Pen to take notes and draw. However, the anti-reflective coating was less important to me than a paper/matt feel. Everything works fine - I ordered another protective film. For my purposes, this option isn't ideal, but you can handle it. Since I'm a broke college student, I'll leave it on until I need to change it for one of the following reasons. Pros: The anti-reflective coating is nice. Makes the screen a little milky but not noticeable. I'd say it looks a little gritty, but it's not bad - it's like a blue ray against a DVD. Both look good, but Blu-ray is much better in general. This will downscale the screen from Blu-Ray to DVD. From an artistic point of view, too, the look works flawlessly. - Pleasant feel for my hand. It also helps the screen better capture my finger movements. Adds texture to the feather on the surface. I think they may have done it on purpose so you can use it with narrow cases, but to be honest it looks kind of weird. - WILL NOT WORK WITH ALL PEN TIPS. That's the biggest thing for me because I'm an artist. I have a set of pen nibs with tips that mimic pencils from 2H to B. 2H and H are hard black plastic. I had one like that when I first tested the protector and it left a horrible black mark. To be fair, this is partly down to the pen tip - when you write 2H or H on paper you see black pen marks. They look like pencil marks, but don't rub off. This does not happen with panes of glass, as they are quite hard and slide more. But this protective film literally helped cut off huge chunks of those feathers, leaving streaks and dirt on the screen. You need water to purify it; it will not rub off easily by hand. I know Surface Pro 6 pens are HB, which work great on screen, but other previous models come with H, so I'll be careful. - Super tiny screen cleaning cloth - Stickers are ridiculously fragile and difficult to use - Bubble accessory tool is super thin. It also makes the tread appear scratched when in fact only the tread's protective coating is scratched. Anyway, I gave this three stars because I think it could work really well for someone who doesn't use its interface as a serious art and writing tool. But if you're an avid stylus user like me, don't skimp. Get another protector.
