first; Don't waste your money on this pack of filter media - the pieces are MUCH large for canisters. Just go to your local pet or fish store and buy a few pieces from Fluval or another smaller brand. The packaging was pretty unreliable; It came in a plain box, not even sealed. And the tote bag was a bit torn so I had to rinse it out pretty thoroughly. As for the filter itself, I like it so far. It's very quiet and the fact that it can be attached to a tank is a plus as it takes up less space than other sponge filters. I like to add canisters to add filter material and once this tank is up and running I add some purigen. This is a great filter for bettas or other fish that don't like strong currents. If you have an adjustable air pump, that's even better.
