It works as advertised. Perhaps there are cheaper ways to solve your problem.

I have an Am Std model 4266 and it "runs". I've seen the term "ghost flush" in other reviews and don't know what it means. The term seems to suggest that the toilet flushes itself. That's not the problem I have. The problem I have, well, the problem I had, is that the water in the toilet tank slowly and silently ran out or dripped into the bowl. This lowers the water level in the tank and then the float valve opens and the tank refills. Observable symptom - the toilet is leaking. We hear water filling the tank at odd times when no one is using the bathroom. 5 minutes and my problem solved. So I'm happy. But I want to share something that will save you an extra $$. The main problem in my toilet wasn't the seal but the big blue silicone? ring included. The main problem was the O-ring. I'm not sure because I don't care enough about this topic to spend extra time testing my theory. But when I removed the old gasket it looked fine. It wasn't warped, had no bubbles or anything like that. Simply good. However, when I pulled out the old o-ring, it crumpled and deteriorated. This was almost certainly the cause of the leak. I bet if I just replaced the o-ring it would solve my problem just as well. Okay, how will that save money? O-rings are $0.10 at your local hardware store instead of $8 for two included in this pack. If you don't mind wasting your time, do the following: Turn off the water supply to the toilet. 2. Rinse it to drain the water from the tank. At the top of the reed valve, turn the wing nut counterclockwise 1/2 turn and pull the nut out. On it you will find an O-ring. Remove the o-ring (use a paper clip or similar) and next time take it to the nearest hardware store. Install a replacement and turn the water back on. Your problem can also be solved. To make sure you need THIS thing, check the gasket. If it looks bad, replace it. Mine looked fine, but the o-ring was bad. I give 5 stars because it solved my problem and worked as advertised. But there may be cheaper ways to fix your leak!
