I love these lights. We bought three and hung them on the wall above the stairs. The lights are very basic which is what we were looking for. The glass is frosted, which softens the white LED light. Based on past experience, we have found that if the LED is too yellow, there is not enough light. They offer great brightness and we've added a dimmer for nighttime use. We didn't install it ourselves, but we could if we didn't have to cut holes and pull new wires. The light shines both "up" and "down", meaning the glass is open in both directions.
