Review on Cable Matters Active Oculus Headset by Eric Surabhi

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works well and as advertised

TL; DR, that's good, buy it if you can't afford the cable for the first batch. Configure to install an optional USB 3.1 Gen 2 card designed to use this cable, on the theory that my motherboard is not delivering enough power to the port to charge the headset. This change worked and the cable will now adequately charge the headset when using Oculus Link! Keep this in mind if you buy this cable and find that your headset performance still degrades when gaming. Original Review Below: As mentioned in other reviews, it works as a connection cable for Oculus Quest 2. After properly adjusting the settings to match my computer's performance, I had no issues with the cable itself. However, it's worth noting that this, like the manufacturer answered in the questions section that does NOT keep Quest 2 charged while playing. It drains slowly and on average I play 2-3 hours before I have to unplug and charge. If your end goal is longer gaming sessions, you should look elsewhere. As for the cable itself, I found its form factor quite appealing. It's about the thickness of a braided keyboard cable and about as flexible as a DisplayPort cable (give or take). Even with my glasses on, I can freely tuck them behind my ear and let them fall behind me when in use. I would recommend you find the best way to keep it still as if it's moving too much, I had a "stuttering" connection. not a common problem so don't worry. All in all this is a very good choice if you need a patch cord but don't have the money to buy a first production cord. just be aware of its limitations.

Pros
  • Cables and Connections
Cons
  • Not as thick as other options
