These are WIDE ENOUGH for green smoothies that can sometimes be a bit thick. I use them when I have a shake on the go, from a 24-ounce paper milkshake cup with a lid (I ordered them from Keg Works). Not the greenest way, but trying to fit into a smoothie before leaving the house means I either have to be willing to clean up a straw and glass that's been sitting in a hot car for 10 years. hours, or even with the creation of excess garbage. Finally, it makes green smoothies easier, neater, and more convenient. On the other hand, I saw them today at Bed Bath & Beyond for $1.99.
