I bought this with the intention of using it to install a press fit bottom bracket, its intended use but the first project I had to undertake was replacing the headset with an older steel mountain bike with 1 1/8" threadless stem. I couldn't confirm if the press would be long enough or if the inserts would fit on the cups based on limited photos and information online. Now I can report that This tool did its job very well.The inserts fit the Crane Creek 40 headset snugly and the threaded rod was long enough to work with my medium frame headset (less than 6"). Considering the price, this makes these Presse for a great purchase., I think. Sure you could use a cheaper hardware store setup, but I think it's a great option and maybe sth as easier to use, with nice handles and graduated inserts.
