This is a butterfly shaped hole punch. Butterfly die measures approximately 7/8" x 5/8". Below is a small plastic bin for collecting perforated paper. It cuts through paper and even thin cardboard, leaving sharp cut-out edges. The hole punch can be used by both right-handed and left-handed people. I find this hole punch very easy to use and well designed. I really like that the tank collects perforated paper at the bottom. With this design I sometimes want to use holes and sometimes perforated paper, so it's great that I have to chase non-perforated paper all over the work area. I am impressed how easily the hole punch even goes through cardboard with little effort. Overall, this device is easy to use and allows you to be creative.
