I've read in reviews that you can't remove the reservoir or drain the water but I was able to remove the water reservoir which was amazing and Surprise as I didn't expect it. I broke it up with a tea pod and it took a minute to start because it was ice cold and the tea came out very hot and tasted great. Very happy with my purchase
