I couldn't find the width of this belt while shopping but it's cheap enough so I decided to take a chance. Turns out it's 1.5 inches wide. My other two similar (nylon friction) straps are 1.125" wide. I have no problem with it being 1.5", just thought others might find this information helpful. The difference in size and design of this buckle compared to my other smaller and simpler designs it makes it noticeably heavier to lift.However the weight is not noticeable when wearing the strap.The buckle releases when you press it on one side.(Slide the flat side towards the triangular side.) This isn't a problem with normal wear, but I don't see it as a good thing if you're carrying something in a critical work environment (police, fire, ambulance, etc.) ) .). It doesn't concern me, I use it's just for everyday use, but for that reason I'm giving it 4 stars.
