I liked that this scratching post is very tall and my cat likes the ball hidden inside, but that's where the PROS stop. The base of this device is too light and when my cat grabs the rope part to scratch, she almost falls over. It keeps my cat from using it. To make this post even remotely effective, I need to drop the weight of the barbell to the floor so it doesn't lean forward. The other material covering the rest of the device looks like carpet. , But that's not the case. In fact, it is a fabric with protruding fibers reminiscent of carpets. The build quality of this stand doesn't match the price. If you are looking for a scratching post that will do for a decent buck, look elsewhere.
