I'm a fan of this fan! You need to assemble it by yourself. But the instructions were clear and if you go slow and follow the instructions anyone can assemble it. This fan is very durable and quite heavy. Which I like. It's rock solid and looks like a fan that could have been made many, many years ago. When things were metal, not plastic. As some reviewers point out, it makes quite a bit of noise at high speeds. I was nervous when I bought the fan. I can now report that the noise is not coming from the fan motor but from the incredible amount of air the fan blades are blowing into the room. In other words, it's a fan that pushes air out. This is how you get wind noise at top speed. I have other fans and they: a) don't blow as much air; and B) they make more noise. Therefore, I do not consider the level of noise generated at high speed to be unreasonable. The great thing about the low speed is that it still moves a lot of air and is very quiet compared to my other fans. We bought this fan to put in front of our wood heater to better disperse the heat around the house. This fan is a reliable and quiet solution that we are very happy to give 5 stars!
