Flat Top lamps are just what you need. They give a more pleasant light because they don't diffuse the light like a round dome. You can get this impression from a picture above. Round tip in the same shot - the black screen isn't visible because it's blurred by the ambient light. The fact is that the flat top gives a more comfortable light and does not dazzle the eyes. I don't know why it's so hard to find flat tops. not in HD or Lowe's in my search. This is a great product and comes beautifully packaged with minimal waste as you can see. I will be looking at their line to order other lamps I need. I went with 300OK, which is slightly cooler than the 2700 I've used for LEDs in the past to better mimic an incandescent bulb. The lamps now have a higher color rendering index, resulting in clearer and better light. 3000K gives more accurate colors while it's still warm and I think the trend will eventually go towards more accurate light colors as everyone moves away from incandescent and halogens. Halogens were once the epitome of true clear light. They use electricity and when dimmed to low light they go more into the warm spectrum, which can be nice and we're used to that, but times are changing. With these LEDs, the colors stay true even at low settings, they use very little power so they shine longer - all the time in that back hallway. There should be no more dark house, dark corner or dark hallway. Just add more recessed lights and you have these PAR 30 Flat Top Panels.
