Review on πŸ’‘ LEPA N500-SA: Ultimate 500W ATX12V Power Supply for Enhanced Performance by Viswanath Lopez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A slick, VERY quiet device that works

This is definitely a slick looking component. This machine is surprisingly quiet. So quiet you had to lean over to hear the fan running. No other noises come from it either. When trying to connect an older graphics card (8800 GT/9800 GTX) to it, it made a nasty squeaking sound. It was eventually installed in the HP tower. It runs great on an AMD quad-core processor, a SATA hard drive and a CD/DVD-RW drive and 4GB of RAM. The last SATA drive has since failed; but it could be power surges in the wiring in a centuries-old building. The computer it was installed on is AT LEAST 4 years old, so any device or drive failure is due to age. This power supply has been in use for 5 months. Last week the computer it was installed on was shut down, which I find quite suspicious. I wouldn't recommend this in a build that runs 24/7 or uses a lot of power. But for a workstation that runs less than 8 hours a day during the work week, that's fine. It was preferred to Antec, EVGA, HEC, and Rosewill in the same price range, but was chosen because it was a few bucks cheaper. I might buy this again or go with the other brands mentioned instead. However, I would NEVER choose this unit over Antec or EVGA 400-430W power supplies if they were anywhere near the same price as this one; as they will be able to power the older graphics cards mentioned earlier in this review. It is estimated that it can handle around 150 watts (+/- 25) with no problems. This certainly works for any Celeron G1610/1620/1820/1840 processor with integrated graphics. This works for an entry level machine that works with email/web browser/uses office applications. It's also good enough for Facebook gaming. However, I'm not sure I would trust him in Minecraft games. I'm curious how long this device will last. EDIT: Upgraded from 3 to 4 stars. See comments.
