If you have 3 cats and 4 litter boxes, the liners fold up! Now, before people say "just scoop," let me explain: 1) Scooping isn't for everyone, so if you just don't want it, these pads are thick and not overly expensive (and drawstring! plus). 2) two of my cats had problems with urinary tract infections and/or urinating outside the box (yes I wash them as needed). By completely changing them every two or two days instead of exhausting them, the cats became happier and the incidence of UTI problems decreased. It may be coincidence, but I'm sticking with the status quo. 3) If you do the occasional scooping or just tug on the liner and want to freshen up completely, they come with a good 'scooped feces/urine' disposal bag. One caveat – these earbuds are gigantic. BIG! Well, I'd rather have very large earbuds than undersized ones, but your preferences may differ. That said, if you have a cat that digs vigorously, be sure to put enough litter inside so that it doesn't tear the liner.
