I thought it would be a good idea to replace a real camera as it is advertised as a 'replacement for your DSLR'. She has some quirks. I bought the 7 Plus model and it feels pleasantly shaky in my hand. You still need to secure the open side because this phone model is too heavy to hold in hand and if you touch the open side you will burn your finger because the phone is too hot. Even after 5 minutes it was too hot to touch. The "wheel" elements also feel like they're about to fly off when you turn them with your thumb - they're made out of cheap plastic and aren't firmly attached. I like this idea and I think it's on the right track but needs some work. For example, they don't mention that you can't control the F aperture (fixed on iPhones) and that there's no "portrait" mode as stated on the back of the box (which is now standard on the phone, but the button does not make it available). They also have a really tough time with lighting accessories, as most of these are phone jack mounts, which are no longer present in this version of the phone. There's a cold shoe on the grip, but it doesn't support any real weight, and the phone itself already feels like it could fall out of the grip without any accessories. For the lower price, it would have been totally worth it.
