This iron appeared to be a good basic iron and only spattered occasionally. The total weight was not great, but sufficient. Then, without warning, it just stopped working. We have never dropped this iron and unplugged it after each use. I would say that we iron lightly - we iron maybe 4-5 things a week. I think even a cheap iron should last longer than this short time. The last iron I bought stopped working after the same amount of time but it fell down twice so we hit it as a hit. I will buy an old-fashioned classic model with a heavy base. If that stops working within a year, I will invest in Rowenta.
