I love these 3D lightbulbs. And the good ones (not this model) look fantastic AND put out a useful amount of soft ambient light. Unfortunately, the manufacturer has installed a very low-power LED emitter in this particular model. So low, in fact, that it's almost impossible to tell it's even on unless the room is pitch black. As a professional designer of luxury custom lighting, I still cannot believe how many silly/simple design flaws exist in many LED products. This is a great example. A manufacturer could use an LED 20 times brighter for less than 3 cents more. Literally. I took them apart and just soldered in a 3 cent chip which is 30 times brighter and will light up the room with great ambient light. The manufacturer knows that for sure. But for reasons beyond my comprehension, they intentionally save 3 cents per item, resulting in a much inferior product. Financially, is this a smart move on your part? Let me put it this way: If they spent 3 cents more on better LEDs, I would buy hundreds of them at once. I definitely have supplies to justify a few bucks more per bulb. I'd happily pay an extra $3 per unit to have a bulb that puts out a useful amount of ambient light. Conclusion: Do you like this type of light bulb? Do not buy this particular model. Look for those that have a much higher lumen output. You can easily find them for the same price. It doesn't cost any money. Not even close.
