Review on πŸ”§ Lacrosse Ball Resurfacing Tool: Enhanced Greaser Gripper Design by Ryan Nguyen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works best with balls

The Greaser Gripper solved a problem I and all lacrosse players and coaches had: how to prevent sun damage to the surface of lacrosse balls. Lacrosse balls need a grippy surface so players can pass and shoot with precision. They become "lubricants" after a season or two in the sun. At $2.50 each, they can be expensive to replace if you have a bag of 50. I've scoured the internet and YouTube for years to find a solution to getting the ball resurfaced. No one had a good, actionable idea. Then came the Greaser Gripper! I watched a video, made sure and bought one in early 2021. After 200 refurbished balls and 4 grill cleaning pads, my team and 3 other teams thanked me for the "like new" balls. When you see the simplicity of the product you'll wonder why you didn't think of this, so give these guys kudos for a simple product that works and is inexpensive. 4 stars for reasons you will see in my NOTE 3 below. NOTE 1: Recovered balls are unlikely to be "legal" to play (if the umpire notices the grooves). Point it up so that one hand is free to start the drill and the other hand to hold the brush (I don't recommend setting the drill to the "on" position). You don't have to force the ball into the cup; The rubber surface grips the cup wall after gently pasting. NOTE 3: After 200 repairs, my Greaser Gripper mug's wall will deteriorate and may not function for much longer. NOTE 4: Precautions (1) wear a glove when holding the scrub, (2) do not put too much pressure on the ball, (3) do not use the scrub after it has fallen apart as it is difficult to keeping is on the spinning ball and you may injure or burn your finger (even if you are wearing a glove), (4) wear a mask, as inhaling rubber particles can cause cancer, and goggles. NOTE 5: outdoor installation; The working area will be covered with rubber particles. NOTE 6: I flip the sphere over after 10-20 seconds and turn it a little more if there are still marks and discoloration. New balls only need a quick cleaning.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • Hard to say
