Review on πŸ”§ FEBCO 765 0.5-0.75 Inch Poppet/Bonnet Assembly by Jack Robi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Worked well for me for universal joints and parts

I have a FEBCO 765 3/4 in. valve for my outdoor sprinkler system. My entire sprinkler system was not installed until the summer of 2009 and this new part started leaking this spring when the system was opened (start of season 4). I live in New England and every fall I have to clean my pipes and blow air out of my heads to prevent frost damage. I was disappointed when this new valve failed so quickly. I wonder if it won't fail every few years. I've read at least two other reviews that suggest this FEBCO product fails in the same way when spring opening their system. Perhaps FEBCO is more to the south with warmer times and the failure rate is much lower. I purchased this hood and harness repair kit after first calling local plumbing stores that didn't stock it. I was glad to find it on Revain. I ordered it yesterday and paid a few bucks more for overnight Prime delivery. It installed in seconds (just hand tighten - DO NOT use pliers!) and stopped flowing as soon as I turned on the water valve and ran the spray program. While this works great for me, I can't help but wonder if it will be like this in a few years, we'll see. But for this first repair I'm satisfied - the product turned out to be exactly the same materials and finishes as the original - not a replacement. I too (as well as the other reviewer) would like some guidance - where to apply the lube? I applied it to the metal bearing and spring area and also used it as a lube for all the sealing surfaces - I just used a dab of all the lube. I noticed that it comes with two loose rubber o-rings but still having the old part around as you can see I had to use the smaller of the two o-rings and the other o-ring as keep spare. Worked right away, is satisfied and recommends using this repair kit if your FEBCO 765 3/4 valve starts leaking through the top of the body.

Pros
  • Easy installation
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
