I bought a refurbished model cheap and just set it up for Skype for Business PSTN. I have a VVX600 in the office and didn't want to spend that much money on a desk phone in my home office, so this came in handy. I have already reviewed the VVX600 and pretty much everything I said there applies to the 500 Well. Configuration is cumbersome if you don't have a provisioning server, and the learning curve is steep. The fact that I can't reuse headsets (RJ9 vs 3.5mm) is amazing, especially since the adapter cables cost more than what I paid for my current headset, which I can also use on a computer but not on VVX . The difference between 600 and this one is fewer lines (doesn't matter in Lync mode as there is only one line). - smaller display (instead of 4 icons across) from 5, 2 columns with contacts instead of 3) - no Bluetooth That's it. After factory resetting it, changing the basic configuration to Lync and letting it run for a while, I was in business. It has been updated to firmware 5.4.1.17653. My calendar and contacts synced with no issues. The color display and touchscreen are good, but the phone is just as slow as the 600. You have to dial slowly. Kind of crazy about a phone these days. Cisco phones are sooooo sleek (there's a SPA514G next to them) and better than phones, but not as flashy. And they don't work with Office 365.
