Easy assembly but cosmetic damage, no recline adjustment

HON BASYX Hive industrial grade designer office chair was packed in a single box and the parts were packed separately and separated by foam and cardboard. The box suffered some damage during the shipping process. It's not clear if the cosmetic damage to the chair itself was caused by shipping or if it came that way from the factory. The chair's white paint had chipped in several visible places on the armrests and base. The padding on the back of the chair was loose and I couldn't put it back in after some effort. The chair was easy to assemble and it came with the only tool needed (an Allen key). The necessary screws were provided along with the spares and it didn't take long, maybe 20 minutes total work alone and neatly. Help wasn't needed. The instructions were clear and the left, front and right sides of the chair were marked to avoid mistakes. The seat itself isn't terribly uncomfortable, but out of the box it has a slight forward tilt in its default position, which makes it look like I'm about to slide out. There were no instructions on how to adjust the chair. The chair's seat could slide back and forth and raise the left lever, but this did not correct the seat's forward lean. The chair also moves up and down with the right lever, and the backrest can be locked in two positions by sliding the right lever in and out - either unlocked, allowing the backrest to recline very far, or slightly locked with limited inclination. Movement. I would prefer the third option, which fully engages the back. Overall the chair is not comfortable or adjustable enough to justify its price. The cosmetic damage to this particular chair is also repulsive. The paint must not chip and all upholstery must be securely fastened. The chair must not lean forward uncomfortably or have an appropriate documented ability to correct this position.

Pros
  • COMPLEX SEAT CONTROLS, such as customized seating experience.
Cons
  • Functionality
