Review on Z SK40415 Threaded Stainless Installed by Michael Bryan

Use at your own risk.

This product may work for some but I recommend looking into other threaded inserts if you can't afford a failed repair. I bought this carburetor thread repair kit for my dirt bike and the thread placement made it so I had to get this repair right. Needless to say, I watched every video I could find, read the reviews, and took my time. Somehow I didn't accidentally drill through the fuel line, I found the hole was only deep enough to thread and grind down the non-cutting parts. The length of the tap before I stripped the thread I cut and managed to keep it straight. I couldn't believe it, I actually wanted to get my carburetor repaired (this was my 3rd repair after "fixing" it the first time). I just had to screw in the coil insert. Carefully, carefully, slowly I used the tool to screw it in place. As soon as I finished screwing it in, disaster struck. The very end of the spool was not threaded and coiled properly for some reason, leaving it out of line with the other threads. Didn't think it was a big problem but now the bolt is breaking. The coil insert is there, won't pop out, I can't drill it out for many reasons, and I have to buy a brand new carburetor because of the damn threads. In short, if you're doing light repairs where you can drill as deep as you like, and getting it wrong there's little chance of disaster, this set will come in handy. However, if you are absolutely sure of a successful repair, look at one of the more expensive solid inserts or maybe real heli coils.
