Review on 🎧 Sony SRF-M37W Walkman: Digital Tuning Weather/FM/AM Stereo Radio in Black - Get the Best of Both Worlds! by Dan Tsourvakas

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Basically good. . . best personal radio

Bought 2 of these for an early Mother's Day gift and after a month of use I can say it's a decent product but not without flaws. First, it seems to be solidly built and the buttons give good feedback. A AAA battery keeps it going for a long time - probably more than 50 hours. My non-technical wife had no problem adjusting the presets. The headphones supplied do not match the radio - use the best phones; you will not regret it. I route the cable through a removable belt clip as I tend to snag and tug on the cable when I'm moving - belt clips from other Sony models (like the srf-59) also fit the m37w by the way. The sound quality is acceptable, with the exception of the bass, but I think that's what the buying public wants. The analog volume control works well and I can mow the lawn while listening. The lock switch disables everything except the volume controls. The DX setting (long range) only works for the weather band - I actually have to set it to DX to get reception on that band. DXing on other tapes is so-so. The reception of local stations is impeccable and the PLL tuning works well. The AM band is sensitive to RF interference, so I can't use it near other electronics. Also, the internal AM antenna is orientation-sensitive, so signals will be attenuated when the radio is moved, which isn't great for a portable radio. In summary - if you can live with these shortcomings, I'd say go for it.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Almost everything is fine
