Sturdy little tripod. I love its simple design. The legs have a locked position so they can either be unfolded, extended into a tripod, or folded completely. The mechanism for adjusting the legs is simply brilliant. It's just three slots in a red metal wheel. The legs stop at their height and hit the red metal wheel, and spinning the wheel allows the legs to fall into the slots, allowing the tripod to fall flat. Two slots in the legs allow you to attach the tripod to objects; I've already found it useful for clipping to my bag, attaching to odd-shaped objects when the ground is uneven, or creating unique perspectives when taking photos. Two 1/4"-20 strands in each leg would also be of interest to add flash attachment points for macro photography. When the tripod is extended, the distance between each leg is 10" in diameter. The distance between each leg is approximately 12" in diameter. I need to know how much floor space is required when the tripod is fully extended. I look forward to photographing wildlife with this tripod snow etc setup weatherproof (a win for Pentax!) but still nice for keeping my gear dry and off the ground. This tripod easily held my DSLR with a 300mm prime lens and a teleconverter attached. This setup eventually tipped over, but that's well beyond the reality of any situation I would use it in. When I swapped out the 300mm for my 16-85mm, the tripod again held it with no problem. Everything was really well balanced nicely. didn't buy a matching ball head. In all attached photos I use a 3 Legged Thing ball head. This is why the 1/4" tripod leg adapter had a flared end. I think this was specifically designed to work with the matching ball head, sold separately. This does not work with my 3LT ball head; the flared ends prevented that the ball head sits flush when mounted on tripod legs. Luckily I had another adapter that worked. Just remember: if you want to use your own ball head, make sure you have a 1/4" thread adapter if necessary to have. If you're looking for a solid addition to your bag, this is worth every penny. Mentioned listing a bag but I did not receive it. There is a picture in the listing that shows the tripod and ball head with case, so maybe it's just for bundle shopping? As I only bought legs that might be the reason, but it's not clear in the listing. I'll ask Revain about it. Having said that, these tripod legs are fantastic and I highly recommend them.
