My favorite part of this tripod (besides its strength) is the upper thread. You don't need an adapter at all because it's 3/8" and if you fit something 1/4" the 3/8" sleeve slides down and out of the way and then springs back when needed. Such a one simple thing but super useful.

They all work fine as long as you don't burden them with a bulletproof rig, but if you want quality, get this. You'll still have it 10 years from now. I love it but the two legs are very loose. After putting them on they seem fine but I suspect I'll have to do this many times. The metal is of good quality, but the device lacks smoothness. The legs should have clear contact points when folded to provide a more comfortable hold, and when open they should feel like they're locking. Turning the head to change the breakpoint isn't smooth either. It just doesn't do much in terms of position feedback.

I needed a small tripod for a very expensive iPhone. This tripod has threaded holes in the legs. I made good brass weights that are held under the feet with these threaded holes to secure them. Now with the addition of the ball mount, it can securely hold the iPhone at any angle.
