I have thick hair that I like to layer. When it reaches a certain length I need a solid lipstick for it to work. I've tried many different brands and types to find one that's strong enough to give a decent grip but light enough that I can layer them on top of each other. This material is exactly what I was looking for. I used to rely on Reuzel High but it was too strong and I had to dilute it with water. This lipstick I would say falls somewhere between "normal" strength and hardness. They really hit the sweet spot here. It's not 100% perfect: the fix doesn't last as long as I'd like (usually good for around 10 hours) and the clumping that others have pointed out is definitely true. I brush them out with a comb and that helps, but sometimes I have to use a little water to smooth out the clumps. None of these issues are enough to make me stop using it. The price plays a big role here. This material is very cheap compared to other similar lipsticks and without any loss of quality. The branding and the metal tin it comes in is nice. Others have commented on the smell (good and bad) but to be honest I hardly notice it and have a pretty keen sense of smell. There may be a very slight sharpening, but that's about it. Maybe I'm just completely insensitive to the scent, but I don't take any of it with me. Overall:+ Great value for a quality product+ Great for thick hair+ Strong hold yet flexible+ Nice thin/attractive branding+/- You may or may not like the smell (or even notice it) - Not very long lasting - Soft clumping Die both negatives are really minor. 10 hours is an acceptable amount of time before reapplication is required and caking is a common problem with all brands. So it's not perfect, but I haven't found the right lipstick yet. The price you pay for what you get here is excellent and I've finally found the holy grail between fixation and flexibility. This will surely become my new standard once my hair is long enough not to be cut with normal force.
