I bought two of these gates because I needed something that would close automatically. They were easy to install and the components were very well made. Much better than the gate they replaced. However, there are some design issues. Honestly, otherwise it would be perfect. 1.) Upper and lower hinges are not smooth after a few closures. They use metal on metal for their rotating surface. When you open the door you have to lift it up a bit. To allow this movement, the hinges had to be covered with plastic bushings at the top and bottom. I've oiled mine a few times but I see it as a constant problem and tend to pinch the door frame around. 2.) The bottom door lock is not controlled by the handle mechanism. This makes it necessary to lift the door slightly when opening it. Creating a need to improve loop slippage. 3.) Nowhere in the documentation does it say that the door can be opened with a pen. Unfortunately this is very easy to do. It would be better if this feature was configurable or could be set manually. By simply opening the door to the maximum, it will remain open until you hit it. While this is convenient, it creates a problem by ensuring the gate closes after each pass.
