I originally bought it for sports and reporting in a pair of 7D and 5M2. Of course, you can write about insufficient aperture, and this is true, but faster lenses, such as 4 \ 400, to put it mildly, are completely different money. What can I say about him. When using with crop 1.6, you need to keep in mind that it is slightly soapy at closed apertures and try not to climb beyond the aperture value of 8, there is no such problem on a full frame. I canโt call it a vacuum cleaner, for the entire time I used it, I sucked up only a speck of dust, despite the fact that the house is full of cat hair and Canon 17-55 2.8, with all my storage tricks, it is full of it. The excellent work of the stabilizer (do not be lazy to switch to mode 2 when shooting objects in motion) is complemented by an excellent balance and optimal weight for its size, in general, the optics are perfectly balanced, I think with units, the balance will be even better. In frost below -15, I recommend warming, otherwise the stub starts to fail, not right away, forty minutes at -10-15 it works without problems. Compared with Canon 135 2.0 L, if you lower its aperture advantage and start comparing them with 5.0 (100-400 by 135 closes the hole up to 5), then for me personally the picture 100-400 is more realistic, there is no twist in the image inherent in 135, but this in no way means that he is worse or better, they are just different, more artistic, more creative. Sold it a year later. Why? It's just that 90% of my photos are sports reporting, and this lens is very demanding on shooting conditions. The summer of 2022 in St. Petersburg was so cloudy that I shot 135 all the time paired with a 1.4 extender and if I had a 400 hundredth it would hang on my shoulder idle. Therefore, I consider buying a 70-200 2.8 II more justified for sports shooting, well, for those who shoot more static objects, I highly recommend getting acquainted with this glass, you will not regret it!
