This coat has been worn a lot outdoors and is holding up well. The padding material makes this coat slightly thicker than down fill, but still comfortable enough for everyday wear. Dark blue is good because it hides a lot of dirt from wearing outdoors. The seams are well finished with no signs of loosening. The lining of the coat and hood is made of soft fleece. The sleeves have the same nylon lining as the outer material. This coat can easily be washed in the washing machine, which is a big plus for a baby coat. The paint on the metal of the zippers is worn in places from washing. This coat runs slightly small. My son is 48 inches tall and weighs about 50 pounds and a size 7-8 fits him perfectly. 20 degrees Fahrenheit was the coldest temperature in this coat and kept my son warm. It has a high collar that keeps the neck warm and the zipper goes all the way to the top of this collar. There is also a sewn-in piece of nylon material covering the top of the zipper to keep the zipper from touching your neck. The hood has a velcro closure that fits snugly to the hood. The hood is low enough to cover your head but tight enough to stay in place even on a windy day. The hood is not detachable. The zippers are plastic, but the zippers are painted with metal. Conveniently, there are two zippered pockets for gloves. The description says that this coat has an extra inner pocket, but that is not the case. I have two reasons for deducting a star. Remember that this coat is waterproof, not waterproof. A light drizzle or light snowfall will keep it dry, but heavier precipitation will get the inside of the coat wet. In addition, the sleeves do not have an elasticated wrist, which allows snow to enter the sleeves. But overall I think it's a good coat for a good price.
