Switched to this prescription for my Coonhound on my vet's recommendation after trying everything to reduce/prevent seizures. Our 7 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound started having seizures out of the blue about 3 years ago. Scared us to $%^&. The first vet said that some breeds/dogs are more prone to this disease than others and that he will struggle with it for the rest of his life. He had seizures every two months for about 1.5 to 2 years. The impact and duration of the seizures increased to the point where we considered taking an expensive drug daily that he would take indefinitely. We were afraid to give him medication when the seizures started because we had read about the possible side effects of available medication. We were always feeding him regular mid-range dog food, not knowing what the ingredients were and what they might cause allergic reactions until our new vet made this observation and recommended chicken-free dog food. Exhausted, we said we'd try anything and to be honest I was skeptical that dog food would make a difference. Almost a year since the switch and *knock on wood* NO DELIVERIES! Not to mention that this is a drug or that it works the same for every dog or situation, but for us it really was a miracle. It also doesn't hurt that his coat looks better than ever!
