Single Product Overview: New/Old Madison Work Boxes Discussion: These boxes are best suited for outlets/electrical boxes that require structural strength. Since they were intended for sockets that I wanted to plug and unplug frequently, I needed extra strength, particularly the two-pronged one that holds both the twist-lock plug (NEMA L5-15P) and the switch. They were easy to assemble with the screws provided. Cut the drywall off some of the stiffer side so it will hold the box in place when screwed to the wall. use the generated solar energy in the house. There used to be an extension cord going through the garage door, but that's not safe for a lot of reasons, so I hooked up some electrical boxes and a switch. The internal connections are a standard wall socket and the external connection to the inverter is via a twist lock connector for added security. and I don't need one that big (standard 15A) so I used a NEMA L5-15P lock instead. 2) Since it was going to be a twist lock connector, I wanted to attach the switch box to the stud whenever possible (as opposed to using a switch box that attaches to the drywall). Madison Electric Products boxes were perfect. I used a single group on the inside of the box and on the outside I used 2 groups so I could install a switch as well. I installed a 2-way socket with a 90 degree rotation to the normal position for two reasons: a) I could screw it straight into the horizontal post and b) I could mount the plug on the bottom and the switch on the top. 3 ) When it comes to electrical parts I usually use Leviton which I have had great success with. The only item I received was a different brand rectangular plug (which Leviton also sells, I just didn't see it when I ordered or I would have ordered it instead).
