I have several Soundmachines, after being recommended by my audiologist I switched to them instead of random earplugs. She was right! I have several Elesories machines and for my purposes I prefer slightly larger machines (with lights on the bottom). This machine takes up less space and I use it as a backup. By that I mean a second or even third car. It's not so easy to operate at night as the buttons are located around the base. There is a sticker just above the buttons that explains which button does what. There is an on/off button. Plus and minus buttons for volume control. Other keys: nature sounds, lullabies, white noise, and fan noise. Fan noise and white noise feel tinny compared to the larger device. In my opinion this machine is best used in an office or as a backup machine. There's an adapter cord that fits into the base of the machine, a bit awkwardly, and it comes with a nice little instruction manual. I'm giving this 4 stars because the big machine hit the jackpot for me. This one is good but not that good for my needs. However, appreciate it!
