Review on Adidas RPD-01 Wireless Bluetooth Sport In-Ear Headphones by Tricia Taylor

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Quality earbuds with general fit issue

I'll start with the positives: The build quality seems fantastic - the headphones are lightweight, magnetized and have a nice silicon neckband that doesn't rub or slip. with wear and tear. Sweat resistance seems to be working. Battery life is about as advertised, declining by 10% every 1.5 to 2 hours, and USB-C fast charging can deliver 2 hours of battery life on a 15-minute charge. There's a companion app, Adidas Headphones, which can be used for custom or out-of-the-box EQ control and "action button" programming. However, the buttons don't have an intuitive layout or labeling, so you'll definitely have to swipe through them. Instructions included to figure out which button does what. There's plenty of bass in these headphones too, which isn't automatically a bad thing, but you'll need to play around with those EQ settings to avoid thin vocals and unbalanced highs. I don't get a balanced sound until I turn up the volume and get very little of the passive noise-cancelling that I associate with in-ear headphones. This isn't necessarily a clear design flaw, I've seen other earbuds with the same shape - something like a wider, coin-sized hard plastic case with a soft earbud sticking straight out - and I realize this serves the purpose, but I find it very uncomfortable even with the largest silicone tips, giving the hard plastic some clearance to avoid getting stuck in my ear. Honestly, when I came across this design on cheaper headphones I just gave them away and if they weren't so expensive I would have given them up as well. I now wear the earbuds backwards with the cords over my ears because otherwise I can't keep them in my ears for more than 10 minutes. I might buy some longer flanged liners later to try to solve this problem, but that's an ergonomic issue to consider.
