Honestly, as my name suggests, it's longer than most headbands, but it's just a basic towel headband. For as long as I can remember I have always wrapped my hair in a turban no matter how long my hair is (short pixie to thigh). It has become a part of life, especially when you are in a hurry to apply makeup, etc. in the morning, so that the towel absorbs the most moisture and reduces the drying time of the hair. But the longer my hair got, the bigger the towel got and it got soaked with water. So when the first hair wraps came out, I had to try them. Some microfiber hair bands didn't absorb moisture as well as my towels and weren't long enough to pick up hairs past my shoulder blades. Towel-style hair wraps definitely had no trouble absorbing moisture, but were too short for longer hair. This item was long enough for my hair to be waist-length when I bought it, but now that my hair is down my middle (aka butt tear) it barely fits and has a handy elasticated holder to hold the ends to plug in instead of being tied to a button like some others. It wicks moisture reasonably well from my long, straight hair, but would probably do better with a thicker/denser material like my bath towels.
