no ring? Try putting it higher.

At first I thought it was too difficult to make the bell ring. When our 4 month old lab pup hit it, the clamp with the bell shook, but the hammer didn't seem to hit the sides of the bell. It required even more strength (than seemed necessary) with my hand. I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and offered a replacement or refund, but I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything wrong first. Help. Finally, I tried adjusting the entire block higher than my dog's nose should normally be. This meant my dog was pushing the bell from underneath as if pulling it away from the mount so when released it shot back and rebounded. That helped! So if it seems like the bell won't ring. Raise it higher or even lower so the nose hits it from below or above rather than the side. In addition, the dog learned the training quickly. Just repeating that the ring is for potty training, not fun. If you have a dog that loves to go out and play like me, make sure you keep them strictly "no-nonsense" during training.
