I received this camera in November 2006. It was a pleasure to use. Always great pictures. Incredible burst speed in frames per second, razor-sharp images, amazing features, quick access buttons for everything you need quickly, amazing metering and autofocus performance, solid feel. This is a professional camera. I've heard/read from many pros dropping their D2X and their 5D and using this camera solely for the simple reason that it takes great pictures and weighs half the weight. It also costs half as much. Of course, the Canon 5D reproduces sharper details on 48-inch prints. So how many of these are you printing these days? Me? Zero. A piece of advice: don't buy it with a kit lens if there's no other way to start because of the cost. The best way is to buy the case separately and get the lenses you need. Don't skimp on lenses. Nikon lenses work best with Nikon cameras just like Canon lenses work best with Canon bodies. Buy Nikon gold ring lenses if you can afford it. The Nikon 17-55mm f2.8 IF ED DX is a great all-around lens to start with. Buy a large (2GB or more) fast CF card (e.g. SanDisk Extreme III) for this camera. Buy an extra battery. Nikon is a good company but they tell tales of 1800 frames in a single charge. The reality is more like 300-400. So get an extra battery. This camera is amazing; its quality and performance cannot be overestimated. If there were six stars I would give it to him. Paul Hendersonville, Tennessee.
