Fell apart after a few months

I liked the fit of these shoes, but after a few months of casual wear (about one weekend a month) they started to smell pretty bad, even with socks on. They are sold as machine washable but mine started falling apart after the first wash. I took them out of the closet and put them on today and found that there are holes in two of my fingers. I am very disappointed as this was my first choice to invest in sandals. I don't know if I got the wrong pair or what. I would like someone to contact me to resolve this issue.
