My daughter started rolling and turning in her crib (IKEA Sundivk) when she was about 4 months old. She got her arm or leg stuck in the bars and started crying because she couldn't get the member out. I spoke to her pediatrician during her 4 month check-up and the doctor said a breathable mesh bed pad would be safe. I was hesitant to buy it based on other reviews but I'm glad I got it. that works great! Pros: - Works. My daughter has not managed to get her arm or leg through since I installed them, despite snuggling up against them. - Correct price. I paid about $22 which is a bit more than I think but still good value for money. - Approved by a pediatrician. MY pediatrician approved mesh inserts for MY child. (Talk to your pediatrician first!) - Easy installation. Installation was quick and easy. I hooked up one side, then the other before tying the ropes around the stem and top bar. After the ties were tied I redid the velcro to make everything look neat and secure. Breathing. I held it to my face to make sure I could breathe through it and I can. Cons: - I tied ropes to the top of the crib to keep the netting from falling off. If you have already lowered the mattress or your crib has higher slats, all you have to do is tie the ropes around the slats. The fabric is silky so it can slip. You could probably prevent this by attaching the shoelaces to the outside of the railing. They are not safe enough for a child to pull off. My little one can't grab them to climb yet (she scratches but can't pull) but once she starts pulling herself up I have to take them off. I hope that by then she will be able to resolve. There are gaps at both ends of the bed. These pads are designed for fixed end beds and due to the way they attach, there is an open bar at each end of the bed on either side (4 open bars total). My daughter found her way to the edges of the cradle but didn't pull the limb out (pulling the arm out would be difficult, but the leg is possible). I would like to see a liner covering all the fins and possibly enclosing the fixed ends. - cleaning. Because it's a mesh, it's difficult to see cleanly. I don't expect the liner to get too dirty but my daughter has drooled all over it. You can take it off and clean it if necessary. Minor disadvantages: - Color choice. This was the only insert I could find for a sturdy crib. I have white and gray in my nursery so the gray suits me but I wish it was in other colors. - It's hard to see. I was hoping to see better through these earbuds considering they are mesh. I have to look over the crib to make sure my daughter is still sleeping (I can see if she's moving but I can't see if her eyes are open). Overall I would recommend this product. My daughter slipped her limb through the bars several times a day (she started sleeping on her back, then rolled onto her side and turned, grabbing the limb. I returned her to her original position and she did it again). This protected her limbs in the cradle and helped her sleep longer because she didn't wake up from being caught.
