I've tried several old and new CF cards, but only my Transcend 133x works at all. On my Dell 440bx based laptop the card is recognized after about a minute of waiting. After that, it accesses the card with no problem, but cannot boot from it. Any other card (mostly different Sandisk cards) doesn't recognize it at all. The problem as I see it is that this adapter is totally dependent on IDE CF card mode. The adapter basically does nothing other than serve as a male adapter for two devices. Therefore, compatibility depends on the compatibility between the card and the computer in which it is used. Of course, the adapter costs $6, so I don't expect an active adapter.
