My daughter received them dangerously close to the first competition of the season and after reading the reviews I was afraid they would be tiny. Our local dance shop is very popular. To be on the safe side, I ordered them half a size larger than my usual shoe size. They arrived and fit great leaving a little room to grow. I think a lot of people think dance shoes should have room to grow when in reality they need to be worn snugly. Materials also weaken over time. I would say they fit true to size and I'm glad I didn't go multiple sizes as suggested because they wouldn't fit properly. A few days later, I ended up at the dance store to pick up my other daughter's new ballet flats. They've been known to increase in size and it's driving our studio owner crazy! However, they told me something interesting. My oldest daughter is 2.5 inches in street shoes. They said they always go straight to women's size 4 once they go over size 2. I'm not sure why, but maybe that's why so many people recommended going for a size 2? My daughter chose size 4 women's flats and they fit snugly with no room to grow.
