I've seen them outside (hundreds!) and they were so beautiful. Don't let the simple, almost cheap, out-of-the-box look fool you. When switched on, the glow is great and the tiny flicker really mimics a flame. If you want more - order extra. i just did it I have 24 (well, 23 - one didn't work) scattered around my living room and they are so beautiful at night. I have a couple of ceramic lamps that go well with it and if I forget them I don't have to worry about burning candles lying around. They also look pretty scattered across the bookshelves. You'll have to toggle them on and off individually, but it doesn't matter. Replacement batteries are inexpensive and easy to manufacture. I didn't use them enough to test battery life.
