Review on Kenley Protector Adhesive Plastic Protection by Ron Houston

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The product held up perfectly and was never punctured by chair legs or chair legs.

I have a relatively new, high-quality Karastan, High Density, Velor or Saxony carpet and I don't walk on it with street shoes. As such it is still very clean with no traces of carpet cleaning. I kept this product on the carpet for about 36 hours for an event with lots of people, outdoor shoes, plates of food, etc. This is in an arid climate in the western states and the temperature that day was in the 30's 40's so clearly the oven was in there. The product held up perfectly and was not punctured anywhere by chair legs or shoe heels. It perfectly protects the carpet from dirt from shoes and stains from food. HOWEVER, it was a lot stickier than it needed to be. It ripped when I removed it because it was so stuck to the carpet. At the edges where the rug meets the wood floor, I learned that I had to pull it up at an angle so it wouldn't rip my rug off the thumbtacks. Where the carpet meets the base of the walls and there was little or no foot traffic it was fine, but in areas with foot traffic it was very tacky. In walk-in areas where the product was applied to the wooden floor it had to be removed very slowly as it was so sticky it could fall apart when pulled out. The tile overlap wasn't too bad. The biggest problem, however, is that after it has finally been successfully removed, it leaves a slightly sticky residue on the carpet and other floor coverings, which can be felt slightly sticky on bare feet. I expect the glue residue will definitely build up and stick to the carpet over the coming weeks. I had a wider reel from a cheaper brand that I also bought from Revain and it worked perfectly without fixing any of the above issues in areas where the cheaper brand was used. The less expensive brand adhered well enough to stay in place but peeled off easily without fear of damage or leaving marks.
