I installed an air compressor on my truck. The compressor was fused with 40A. I connected an external switch and didn't want the switch to handle all the current, so I bought these relays because they were *supposedly* rated for 40 amps. However when I tested it on my compressor the relay worked for a few seconds and then clicked for a few seconds and then clicked again etc. This tells me that the internals of the relay are probably not to spec so like the 40A fuse on the compressor never burned out. So the relay will not work as advertised up to 40 amps. I'll try another brand and bump it up to 60A just in case as I suspect it might be a temporary surge or something.
