I wanted a very affordable battery operated TV for power outages during Florida's amazing hurricane season (if you're thinking of moving to Florida, forget it if only the idea is to go weeks without it living on electricity, not being able to insure your house, paying for bungalow-sized houses at California prices, and hanging out with a bunch of temporary workers from questionable backgrounds all appeal to your sense of adventure). Batteries 8C, works fine. It lasts about 16 hours on 8 batteries, so stock up. That made weeks without electricity more manageable. I also advise getting battery powered flashlights, headphones to block out the deafening noise of backyard generators, and a gun to protect yourself. Welcome to Florida!
